Film Screening: Swannanoan Silt

September 20, 2025 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

September 27th, 2024 is a day that will live in infamy in our mountains when Hurricane Helene took more than 200 lives and upended hundreds more. The scars of that day live on in our communities and our people, who are still rebuilding in the wake of this tragedy nearly a year later. Join us for an afternoon of remembrance and the uplifting stories of community healing at Pack Memorial Library today. The feature presentation this afternoon: an exclusive screening of Swannanoan Silt. Local filmmakers Isaac King and Tristan Turner created this moving image installation in the aftermath of Helene in the town of Swannanoa, regarded as one of the hardest hit communities in WNC. This presentation will be paired with Drew Erin Adams’ The Swannanoa River (2023), musical accompaniment by Agis Shaw, and a Q&A session with King and Turner.
