Written and directed by Lee Isaac Chung, “Minari” is a semi-autobiographical movie about a Korean-American family pursuing the American dream by moving from California to a farm in rural Arkansas during the 1980s. The Yi family starts a farm in Arkansas, growing Korean produce for a market in Dallas despite Monica, the mother’s, reservations about rural life. Strain is put on the family when the market in Dallas cancels their order last-minute, the well runs dry, and Monica’s mother, Soon-ja, has a stroke. How will the Yi family overcome their great struggles? Come find out tonight at the Swannanoa Library! Free snacks will be provided.
