If you love free movies, then come to the Hendersonville Main Branch Library today for a free screening of White Bird! The sequel to the movie titled Wonder, White Bird follows the story of Julian, a young boy who is trying to fit in at his new school. His passive approach triggers his grandmother, Sara, to tell him about growing up as a Jewish girl in Nazi-occupied France. She recounts how she spent more than a year living in a classmate’s barn, unable to leave the building for fear of attracting the Gestapo or Milice informers, and the peril her host family undertook for her. Her classmate, Julien, takes it upon himself to teach her his school lessons and as the story progresses, young love blooms. Will the two stay together? How will they navigate such a repressive environment? And why did Julien not come back from school today?
